About Break Even

Drums, Vocals.
Ron started banging on inanimate objects at an early age, and learned to channel the noise into drumming in the first grade. Studied percussion at Hartt school of music. Went on to form ‘Sunship” an 8 piece horn band whose debut (and one and only album) was released on Capitol records in 1974. On tour Sunship opened up for among others, Steely Dan, Hot Tuna, Rick Nelson, Ten Wheel Drive.

Ron hopes that by playing drums and moving all four limbs independently, he can stave off the ravages of mind mush in old age!!

Guitar, Vocals.
Originally from Philadelphia, Al’s musical style has varied throughout his career, yet it has always remained rooted in blues/rock.

Al has enjoyed commercial success as a professional studio musician and composer, in addition to private music instruction, musical instrument and equipment design, including branding his own line of tube amplifier products. He is a current ASCAP Member with studio and commercial credits.

In addition to BreakEven, Al plays guitar and sings with the Center Lane Band. If you like bluesy rock guitar and some sweet slide with a dash of blues harp, Al is your guy!

Vocals, flute, percussion, harmonica, reluctant cowbell.
Johanna is a dynamic fixture on the Central Jersey / Eastern PA / Lehigh Valley music scenes, singing and playing bass, keyboards and flute. In addition to BreakEven, she is currently a lead singer with Wooden Ships Band, sits in as a bass player with a couple of local groups and you may recognize her as the bass player / singer for the former Eastern Hellbenders band. Originally from NY, she has played with groups ranging from doo-wop to traditional to alternative!

Johanna is all energy, all the time. She is happiest when singing harmonies and is always up for a gig!

Guitar, Vocals.
Fred started playing the guitar at the age 10 and singing soon after. He joined his first band at 15 and he‘s been performing, teaching and writing music ever since. He also plays keyboards, bass guitar, mandolin and drums. 

Fred’s been in several Philadelphia area bands, most notably the popular rock band Forecast, whose recordings and performances of his original songs “Oh Julia” and “Here With Me” received popular acclaim. Fred is an ASCAP published songwriter with his song “Here With Me” recorded and released by singer and actor Andrew Ceglio.

Fred strong voice and awesome harmony ear, not to mention solid lead and rhythm guitar playing, are a huge part of the BreakEven sound.

Keyboard, Vocals.
Perry is one of Philadelphia area's best and hardest working keyboard player / singer.  

He can always be seen playing great tunes somewhere. In addition to BreakEven, Perry plays and sings with the Center Lane Band and a contemporary worship band called "For The Spirit Band".   If CSN and the Beatles could be a worship band, that's them...

Perry’s plays go the pipes and the keys. Throw in a little B3 organ, and you have one of the best Blues/Rock keys players and singers in the area.
